SG Standard is the benchmark, the model by which all other SGs are measured and judged. For full 55 years now, SG Standard has also been one of the premier choices of the most distinguished rock guitarists. It is a huge legacy and huge boots to fill, but 2016 Standard models seem to do it with ease.
SG Standard P-90T is one of two variants of traditional SG Standard made for 2016. It is virtually the same as the regular Standard, except for the electronics section. The body of this single-coiled SG Standard is solid, beveled and equipped with the iconic twin horns. It is made of mahogany; typically one to three pieces of mahogany are used for standard Gibson USA SG models. Set neck is also made of mahogany and since it is a Traditional line model, it comes with a rounded profile. On its top, there is a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays, 1.695" nut and 12" radius.
Gibson`s classic P-90s yield a beefy, howling single-coil tone characteristic of the early LP and SG models. Two volume pots, two tone pots and a three*way toggle switch complete the standard Gibson controls unit. Two-piece bridge and Green Key tuners are also among the major features. This is a simple, hard rocking guitar, a true warhorse. It costs $1,199, the same as the regular humbucker-equipped Standard.
