Trini Lopez is one of legends which don`t need introduction, one of the greatest musicians alive. His contribution to the rhythm & blues and rock and roll music is immeasurable and Mr. Lopez is considered as a living treasure. His collaboration with Gibson has a history half a century long, as he designed his first Gibsons back in 1964 (Lopez Standard and Lopez Deluxe ran from 1964 to 1971). For 2015, Gibson Memphis has introduced the beautiful Limited Run Trini Lopez ES-335 Ebony. It is a vintage-styled semi-hollow guitar with an eclectic mix of ES and non-ES features. Arched back, arched top and the thin sides of the body are made of the same materials. Three-ply laminate made of two layers of maple with a single layer of poplar in between is used on this, and many other 2015 Gibson Memphis models as well. ABR bridge on top is backed up by a customized trapezoid tailpiece (it has a rosewood insert with Trini Lopez logo on it). Burstbucker Pro pickups are featured in both the bridge and neck positions and they come with a classic Gibson controls unit (2x volume, 2x tone, 3-way toggle pickup switch). Mahogany neck is made of a single piece of wood (a standard feature for 2015), has a standard mortise & tenon joint and a slim taper profile. On its top, there is a 22-fret fingerboard made of a single piece of high grade rosewood. To wrap things up, Mr Lopez and Gibson have come up with an in-line headstock, instead of a classic 3+3 option. Vintage Klusons are featured on it.
