2016 High Performance Studio is a true high performance guitar. The looks and styling are, in classic Studio manner, simple, effective and minimalistic (to cut the production costs and enable the use of more performance-boosting features), while the exclusive hardware and electronics features make this new Studio one of the most versatile guitars ever made. A color palette of twelve color options (nine with chrome hardware and three with gold hardware) makes the 2016 Studio one of the most customizable LPs ever made.
The body is made of mahogany back (several pieces of wood glued together; modern weight relief system) and plain maple top (carved top; detachable plastic pickguard; no binding). One-piece mahogany neck (slim taper profile; 1.745" width at nut) is glued to the body and topped with a granadillo fingerboard (22 medium jumbo frets, trapezoid inlays, 12" radius, 1.745" wide zero-fret titanium nut).
Gibson`s 498T (bridge position) and 490R (neck position) humbuckers are complemented with an elaborate controls unit. Push/pull switches on volume knobs split the pickups into single-coils; concealed DIP switch can be used to phase the pickups or turn push/pull switches into high pass filter in/out switches, thus granting over a hundred possible combinations. Add zero-fret nut made of titanium, bridge with titanium saddles, gold-plated output jack, noiseless pickup switch, high performance gig bag, G Force tuners, contoured neck heel and improved neck feel and contour, and $1,849 price tag doesn`t seem that steep at all. This workhorse can be used in virtually every genre of music and virtually any place, be it a rehearsal room, home practice, small gig at a local pub, street gig or even a stadium concert. This magnificent LP will go above and beyond the call of duty to deliver everything Les Paul is known for, and far, far more than that.
