Les Paul Standard, the daddy of all Les Paul guitars was introduced back in 1958 as an attempt to extend the lineup and introduce a model which will be the new benchmark. After a short-lived initial run (1958-60), LP Standard reemerges in 1968, together with the revamped Flying V, and remains a staple of Gibson USA catalog to this very day. 2015 Standard introduced a multitude of modern features which didn`t go all that well with LP purists and traditionalists, so for 2016 Gibson USA split the Standard (and the rest of the catalog) into Traditional (marked with T) and High Performance (marked with HP).
Les Paul Standard 2016 HP is the most advanced and luxurious regular Gibson USA (Limited Run models excluded) Les Paul in existence. It comes with a weight-relieved mahogany body (made of either one or two pieces of mahogany) with an AAAA flamed maple top (Gold Top, Ebony and Blue Mist have plain maple tops). Top is bound in traditional creme binding and covered with a detachable plastic pickguard. One-piece mahogany neck is glued to the body, has a sculpted heel and asymmetrical profile. 22-frer rosewood on its top features compound radius, 1.745" zero fret nut made of titanium, trapezoid inlays and medium jumbo frets.
Burstbucker Pro pickups offer more tonal options than ever before, all thanks to four push/pull knobs (2 volume and 2 tone knobs) and five DIP switches hidden in the electronics cavity. Coil splitting, tapping, phasing, reversing, blowswitch options, ability to choose between inner and outer coils when humbuckers are split give limitless possibilities. G Force tuners, titanium-saddled bridge unit and noiseless pickup switch are also featured on the seemingly endless specs list. This is botha thing of beauty and an ultimate rocking machine, an instrument for Les Paul fans who want it all (the vintage and the modern LP in one) and are ready to pay for it.
