D-1 GT belongs to the 1 series made by Martin Guitars. This series offers a range of both acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars, mostly orchestra models and dreadnoughts. This particular model is a non-cutaway dreadnought guitar with fully acoustic construction. It is made of sapele, spruce, stratabond and rosewood. Sapele is a beautiful wood with tone similar to mahogany and, as mahogany, it is mostly used for back and side panels. Sapele back and sides are topped with spruce-made sound board. Spruce is also used for the bracing of this dreadnought. Stratabond is Martin`s replacement for hardwood in the neck department. On this model it comes with oval contour and mortise & tenon joint. Rosewood is used for both the belly-contoured bridge and 20-fret fingerboard.
