GIO range deals with the most affordable, budget-friendly guitars and basses Ibanez has to offer. It is a beginner range made up of low-cost instruments with excellent price/performance ratio. For 2016, GIO range gets one guitar and one bass. The guitar is a six-stringed GS221 with double-cut body, 25-1/2" scale, stock Ibanez electronics and simple hardware. Black Flat, Chocolate Brown Sunburst, Metallic Blue Sunburst and Metallic Green Sunburst options are available for this model. They`re all finished in gloss and have black hardware. The price tag is set at $199.
GS221 starts off with a solid and carved poplar body and a fast maple neck. The two are connected via a four-bolt joint. 24-fret rosewood fingerboard sits on top of the maple neck. It features jumbo-sized frets, large dot inlays and generous 15.75" radius, perfect for shredding.
Electronics section features a pair of Infinity R humbuckers with open-coil design and a basic controls unit (volume, tone, three-way switch). These high-output pickups are oriented towards hard rock and metal, though with some adjustments, softer and nicer tones can be squeezed out of them. String-through hardtail bridge and die-cast tuners complete the specs list.
