Flying V is undisputed king of metal guitars and, in 2016, two brand new models will be available in Gibson USA catalog. The first and more affordable option is Flying V 2016T, while the Flying V Pro 2016 HP is the pricier and more tricked out option. Both are available in elegant Ebony and Wine Red finishes with creme binding and barren tops, both have the same pickups and same selection of tonewoods. But, they drastically differ in the hardware and construction sections. T model features classic construction solutions and hardware, while the HP option steers this classic metal beast closer to the modern Vs. Flying V Pro 2016 HP has a solid and flat mahogany body and a set mahogany neck - a standard body/neck tonewood selection for the most Gibson USA six-strings (excluding the ES range). The neck is topped with a 2016 standard rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets, 1.745" wide zero fret nut and 12" radius. Pointy headstock with a vintage truss rod cover and dot inlays keep the spirit of classic Flying V alive. Zebra-coiled `57 Classic in the bridge and zebra-coiled Burstbucker 3 in the neck yield a vintage/modern tone suitable for all uses and purposes, from fat, gutsy blues to roaring metal. Titanium-saddled bridge, the latest generation of Gibson`s robotic tuners, sculpted neck heel, gold-plated output jack and noiseless pickup switch are also among the premium features. Flying V Pro 2016 HP costs $1,649, some $350 more than its Traditional Specs sibling. It costs some $350 more than the Traditional Specs V compensates for it with an unmatched playing experience.
