Rickenbacker`s 4003 model is the successor of the legendary 4001 and it was introduced back in 1981. For more than thirty years on the scene, this bass and it`s many variants have seen a myriad of stages and have been played by thousands upon thousands of professional and amateur musicians, alike. One of the most popular versions of the 4003 double-cut bass is the fretless one. It comes with a solid, double-cut body made of maple wings and maple neck (neck-through-body construction). Standard set of Rickenbacker`s color options is available for this model and they`re all finished in gloss. Four-saddled Rickenbacker bridge and two pickups (humbucker/minibucker) are installed on the top. Maple neck is topped with a fretless rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays and 10" radius.
