For 2012 American Standard Series got updated and rejuvenated with hot new pickups provided by Fender Custom Shop. These are humbuckers and single coil pickups inspired by 1950s and 1960s tone and actual pickups used then. Majority of other features remains just the way they were, the American Standard. Currently twelve models make up the line, five guitars and seven basses. Across these twelve instruments, all of Fender`s big four are represented. There are three Strats, two Teles, three Precisions and four Jazz Basses. All of them were unveiled at Fender`s 2012 Frankfurt Musikmesse exhibition booth. 2012 American Standard Jazz Bass V comes with a standard offset-waist body equipped with a recognizable double cutaway. The body is made of alder and it features no bindings or top wood covers. Classic Jazz pickguard comes in white and red plastic. White is featured on black gloss and candy cola, while the red is sported by three-color sunburst and Olympic white. The bridge on this model is Fender High Mass Vintage bridge with five saddles and chrome plating. It comes with two options: top-load and string-through construction. In the pickups area, the situation is covered by two J-styled pickups. Both bridge and neck positions feature American Standard Jazz Bass® Single-Coils. They are controlled through a standard set of master tone and split volume knobs. Traditionally, all control knobs are made of black plastic. The neck is made of maple and it`s equipped with a modern C contour. In order to improve on neck stability, Fender opted for Posiflex graphite neck support rods. This neck is attached to the body with a four-bolt joint. The fingerboard on this five-stringer comes with a choice between rosewood and maple. Either way, the specs are the same: 20 medium jumbo sized frets, white or black position inlays and 1.875" wide synthetic bone nut. Other features on this model include: standard 34" scale, chrome plated hardware and 9.50" wide fingerboard radius. The MSRP for 2012 American Standard Jazz Bass V is set at $1,859.99.
