American Standard Series has been refreshed and rejuvenated for 2012 with brilliant Fender Custom Shop pickups based on the 1950s ans 1960s guitar and bass pickups. Models included into this makeover are Telecaster, Stratocaster, Precision and Jazz. A total of twelve models have been introduced with more to come. The update of American Standard line was announced several times since 2008, but it`s the 2012 Frankfurt Musikmesse to see these new models first. 2012 American Standard Precision Bass V comes with a standard double cutaway body with a Precision shaped alder body. The body features classic proportions and appointments. There are no top woods or bindings. The pickguard, which also serves as the electronics shield still has the signature Precision Bass shape. Candy cola and black versions come with gloss finish and maple fingerboard, while the Olympic white and 3-color sunburst come with gloss finish and dark red pickguard. The bridge is a High Mass Vintage with five saddles and chrome plating. It can be made with either top-load or string-through construction. Pickups department is equipped with only one P pickup in the middle position and it is an American Standard Precision Bass® Alnico V P pickup. Controls for this pickup are made up of volume and tone knobs. The neck is made of maple and, in Fender`s tradition, it is equipped with a C contour. This time it`s a modern C shape. It is attached to the body with a four-bolt joint. The fingerboard on this Precision comes in two variants, rosewood or maple. Either way, the specs are identical: 20 medium jumbo frets, dot position inlays, 9.50 radius and 1.875" wide synthetic bone nut. The MSRP for 2012 American Standard Precision Bass V is set at $1,749.99.
