Performer series in Dean catalog deals with acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars made for the budget-friendly section of the catalog. Since the competition in this segment is fierce, Dean puts out one of the finest affordable series that can be found across the industry. With looks and performance above the expectations of an average player, Performer holds a strong position. For 2013 Dean updates this series with three stunners. One of them is Performer Plus, a single-cut grand auditorium guitar with Dean and B-Band electronics. Dean E304 preamp is paired with B-Band equalizer and tuner. Optionally, this model is B-Band USB upgradeable. Body of this model is single-cut and features substantial depth. This in combination with mahogany and spruce panels gives a high quality tone. Mahogany is used for the back and sides, while the spruce is used for the sound board. There are four color schemes: Natural, Tobacco Sunburst, Trans Brazilia and Satin Black. Neck on this model is made of mahogany and it features a slim C contour in the back. It is attached to the body with a 14th fret dovetail joint. Rosewood fingerboard on the top has 20 frets. Bridge is also made of rosewood.

This guitat has several characteristics of much more expensive acoustic electrics. The guitat has sounds great unplugged and plugged in. The shorter 24 1/4 in scale provides superb response for those guitarist like myself who like to tune down a step or two. The satin neck and body finish provide fast fretting even when hampered by wet hands in the elements. Cosmetically a very attractive instrument. Good job Dean Guitars. Peace, Michael Angelo
