St Augustine series is a brand new one in the Dean Guitars catalog. It deals with acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars, alike. For 2013, three models were introduced as the starting lineup of this series. Two are fully acoustic and one is acoustic-electric. St Augustine Solid Top Cutaway A/E is the acoustic-electric one and it will be reviewed in this article. This model comes with a full-sized dreadnought body made of mahogany back and sides with spruce sound board. Top panel is solid, while the back and sides are laminated. Top is decorated with several layers of binding. Tobacco Sunburst and Natural are color options available for this model. Both come with high gloss finish. Bridge section on this model sports a standard-shaped bridge made of rosewood. Electronics are made by B-Band and Dean. Dean E304T preamp is matched with a 3-band B-Band equalizer and tuner. Neck is made of mahogany and it features C contour in the back. It has a set in joint at 14th fret. This is standard for steel-stringed acoustics. On the top, Dean installs a standard 20-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. Sealed die-cast tuners are installed on the headstock.
