NAMM 2017: Ibanez Solid Body Signatures

A small but versatile signature lineup.

NAMM 2017: Ibanez Solid Body Signatures

This year Ibanez went for quality and versatility instead of quantity, with only six signatures in solid body division. Meshuggah`s Fredrik Thordendal is the only new member of the lineup.

The new lineup of Ibanez solid-bodied signatures will feature six fresh models, distributed across five signature artist series. The center-piece of this year`s lineup is JEM777, the 30th anniversary reissue of Steve Vai`s original JEM777. Back in the day the original JEM spurred the rise of the Superstrat guitar, a trend still strong thirty years down the line. Next on the menu is a double entry for classic rock lovers. Paul Stanley`s line received a pair of new models, left-handed PS120L and short-scaled PSM10. PGMM31 is the only new Paul Gilbert model, also a short-scaled guitar. It comes loaded with all the same PGM goods as its full-sized counterparts. As Kiko Loureiro`s stature and reputation among metal artists and fans grows, so does his S-series based signature line. For this year Kiko and Ibanez have prepared for us the mighty KIKO10BP in Transparent Gray Burst, a marvelous shred machine with stealthy styling and thunderous tone. Last but not the least, Ibanez`s booth featured Fredrik Thordendal`s first Ibanez signature - mighty FTM33.

Ibanez JEM777 is 30th anniversary recreation of the guitar that started the Superstrat craze back in the day, the cult 1987 JEM777. Colorful appearance, HSH passive pickups, double-locking bridge and maple fingerboard with Disappearing Pyramid inlays are all there. Loch Ness Green, Desert Sun Yellow and Shocking Pink variants are available. For further info and full specs list visit the JEM777 detail page on our site or Ibanez Guitars official web site.

Ibanez PS120L is the eagerly awaited left-handed version of the magnificent PS120, the main model of Paul Stanley`s signature line. Like its right-handed counterpart, 120L sports black-clad Iceman body made of mahogany, Seymour Duncan dual-coil cannons and 22-fret ebony fingerboard, all the right ingredients for smoldering hot hard rocking. Ibanez PSM10 is the first Paul Stanley series short-scale axe, with 22.2” scale and pretty much all of the “standard model” features and appearance. The only major differences are the use of poplar bodies and maple necks (mahogany/mahogany is series standard), as well as Ibanez pickups (instead of Seymour Duncan). Ibanez PGMM31 is the first Paul Gilbert Mikro series model. It comes in with a standard Mikro series 22.2” scale, a poplar body clad in white (with Paul`s signature fake “f” holes) and an all-maple neck with 24 frets. Ibanez`s Infinity humbuckers replace the standard DiMarzios. For further info and full specs list visit the PGMM31 detail page on our site or Ibanez Guitars official web site.

Ibanez KIKO10BP is the continuation of Megadeth and Angra lead axeman`s signature line. The new six-shooter follows the already established formula, which includes an Edge bridge, Kiko`s own DiMarzio signature pickups in HSH arrangement, 24-fret fingerboard with special KIKO inlay at 12th fret and subdued styling with Transparent Gray Burst paint job. Ibanez FTM33 is Meshuggah`s Fredrik Thordendal`s debut signature model. It is construction and styling-wise pretty close to the famous M8M Meshuggah model. The heavy duty eight-stringer rocks an ash wing body in combination with a 7-piece maple/walnut neck. Lundgren`s M8P passive/ceramic humbuckers and 24-fret rosewood fingerboard complete this beast.
