Epiphone is known as the brand that more than successfully brings traditional and modern together, and this guitar proves it in the best possible way. Epiphone Wilshire Phant-O-Matic is co-designed by Epiphone and Frank Iero from My Chemical Romance and brings stunning vintage looks along with incredible tonal versatility which is sure to please even the most demanding of the guitar players. 24-3/4" scale, dual humbuckers, Slim Taper neck and a three-way toggle switch and high quality craftsmanship bring tradition to this guitar, and the Varitone electronics turn this guitar towards the young and modern players eager to find their own signature tone.

There are no features which can compensate for a bad tone woods, so the Epiphone made sure that the Wilshire Phant-O-Matic starts off with top quality solid mahogany body and a mahogany neck. Body on the Phant-O-Matic features a double cutaway and a flat top in accordance with the tradition of legendary Wilshires of the past. Glossy Antique Ivory finish and sleek pickguard match this body perfectly and give it even hotter looks. Tune-o-matic and a stoptail bar keep the guitar in tune with surgical precision. Nickel plated as all other parts of hardware, they also compliment the looks of this guitar. Classic Epiphone humbuckers with Alnico V magnets are placed in the bridge and neck positions and they are some of the most versatile pickups on the market right now. Whether the player needs thundering lows for heavy rhythm sections, soaring highs for blazing leads or mellow clean tones for smooth passages, these pickups are sure to deliver. These pickups are controled by three way toggle switch, master volume and Varitone tone knob.

Varitone system is what sets this guitar apart from million others. The ability to chose between the numerous distinctive tones with just one knob and one pickup switch. Varitone system is controlled through a six-position rotary knob. Position one bypasses the Varitone system completely and positions 2-6 morph the sound of the guitar by altering the center frequency of the notch filter from 1.9kHz at position 2 to 13Hz at position 6. Positions 2 to 4 alter the tone, but retain great amounts of clarity, awhile positions 5 and 6 give the singl coil tone, but without the characteristic quack. An additional feature is the killswitch placed on the horn.

Whilshire Phant-O-Matic has a mahogany neck with 1960s Slim Taper contour and Mortise and Tenon joint. Slim, sleek and comfortable, this neck caters equally well to bth rhythm and lead guitarists. The neck features rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and mother of pearl block inlays. Other features include: 14" fingerboard radius, 24-3/4" scale length, PVC nut with 1.68" width, nickel hardware, Wilkinson tuners and gossy polyurethane finish.
