Gibson Custom and Epiphone release each their own Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul Custom models and Gibson USA releases SG Standard P-90.
This time Gibson and Epiphone strike with Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul Customs and an SG Standard P-90. Ace Frehley models are made in honor of the legendary Spaceman, his out-of-this-world solos and his Les Paul that he played at Budokan in 1977. Gibson Custom and Epiphone versions are issued and aim at different parts of the market, while the SG Standard P-90 from Gibson USA tries to merge two worlds into one guitar. These three treats are bound to please every Les Paul and SG lover for they bring the top notch quality and playability in very attractive packages.
Gibson Custom Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul Custom is one of the finest instruments ever built by the Custom division. It is a solid single cutaway model with mahogany/maple body and carved three-piece flamed maple top. Tune-o-matic bridge and stoptail bar are plated with chrome. The most prominent feature on this model is a three-humbucker pickup combo made by DiMarzio. The model Ace played at Budokan was famous for this pickup setup. Mahogany neck is bound in white and equipped with ebony fingerboard. 22 jumbo sized frets have mother of pearl block inlays and 1.69" wide bone nut. Epiphone Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul Custom is a budget variant of the Gibson Custom model. It is made of mahogany body and maple top. Epiphone models traditionally have a flat top to be instantly distinctive from their Gibson counterparts. Tune-o-matic bridge and a stoptail bar command the tone and sustain. Pickups on this model are the same DiMarzio PAF styled humbuckers as the ones on Gibson model. Neck is made of mahogany with a slim taper c contour and mortise & tenon joint. Gibson USA SG Standard P-90 is a model which unifies all of the standard class appointments with P-90 pickups of the Junior and Special models, It is a solid bodied double cutaway model with a body made of mahogany. This beveled edge flat top model is available in heritage cherry and ebony colors. The bridge is a tune-o-matic with a stoptail bar. Pickup combo consists of two P-90 pickups with split control knobs and a three-way toggle switch. The neck is made of mahogany with an SG rounded profile and mortise & tenon joint. The baked maple fingerboard has 22 frets and figured acrylic trapezoid inlays. Black pickguard, chrome plated hardware, 24-3/4" scale and Tonepros Kluson machine heads wrap the spec.
