Back in the 1950s, swamp ash was the main thing in the industry. Along with korina, it ruled supremely, until the more affordable alder and mahogany were adopted as tonewood standards. Today, many manufacturers have completely removed swamp ash from their catalogs and it only appears occasionally on selected models. One such model is Swamp Ash Special model from the Solid Body series. It comes with a solid, double-cut body made completely of swamp ash. It features glossy finish, nickel-plated hardware and carved top. On top of the body, there`s a PRS tremolo bridge installed. It is fronted by two McCarty humbuckers and a PRS vintage rails pickup in the middle. Neck is made of maple. It`s bolted to the body and topped with a 22-fret maple fingerboard.

Have a 2002 Swamp Ash Special. I modified by adding a second pull pot, 1 for coil tapping the humbuckers, and 1 for middle pickup on/off. Changed middle pickup to a Duncan Antiquity pickup. Huge improvement. Now my favorite guitar ever.
