LP Special is one of the concepts introduced by Gibson Guitars in order to reach younger players. The current incarnation of the Special comes with a regular solid, single cut body made of mahogany. Special models do not feature binding around the top, nor they have fancy decorations. Top side is only slightly carved and it`s partially covered with a black plastic pickguard. There are three color schemes available for this model: Gloss Yellow, Heritage Cherry and Alpine White. They all come with nitrocellulose gloss finish. Bridge section on this model is the standard one, featuring tune-o-matic bridge with stoptail bar in the back. Pair of P-90 single coils is installed in the front. Set in mahogany neck has slim taper contour in the back and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard on the top.
