Collector`s Choice range of models is one of the most exclusive series in the world of electric guitars. Gibson Custom has selected several among the most popular guitars in Gibson history and recreated them to the smallest detail. These guitars are made for the enthusiasts with loads of money to spend. No effort was spared to make the same exact guitars as they were several decades ago. Numbers are very limited and largely depend on the availability of materials. Thus, the price tags are very high. Currently, model number six is in production, it is a recreation of 1959 Les Paul. Gibson`s team of experts has measured and studied one 1959 Les Paul, which was in almost pristine condition, in order to gather precise data and measures. Everything in the process of making was subjected to perfection and the end result is Collector`s Choice #6 1959 Les Paul. It comes with a 1959 body contour and it`s made of mahogany back with plain maple top. Top is carved and bound in creme binding. Tune-o-matic bridge is paired with stoptail bar and both are plated in nickel. Pickups are custom made for this model. Gibson Custom experts have precisely measured and tested the pickups on the original 1959 LP and according to their measures made a pair of active humbuckers with Alnico III magnets. Covers on them are plated in nickel. Nickel hardware on this model is gently aged to reflect the light use over the years. Volume and tone knobs are split, one pair for each pickup. In addition to that Gibson Custom installs a three-way toggle pickup switch. Neck on this model is made of mahogany with maple spleen. It has 1959 rounded contour in the back and it is made with surgical precision. Mortise and tenon neck joint connects it to the body. On it`s top rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets is installed. Fret size is also historically accurate feature. Nitrocellulose trapezoid inlays, 12" radius and 1-11/16" wide nylon string nut are installed on the fingerboard. Headstock is equipped with a set of six nickel-plated Gotoh Reissue Green Key tuning machines. These are installed on the headstock in three-a-side pattern. Scale is 24-3/4" long. There`s only one color option for this model, Non-Filtered Tobacco Burst and it`s finished in nitrocellulose lacquer. The MSRP for this magnificent recreation is set at $8,939.
