Eight-stringed guitars are industry`s response to ever lower tunings used by a majority of extreme metal bands. Some twenty years ago, six-stringers could handle pretty much everything bands did in terms of down-tuning. At the turn of the century, seven stringers became a sort of a must have for every respectable brand in the business. Decade later, eight-stringers are becoming the next big thing with nine-string guitars slowly appearing in catalogs. Hellraiser Hybrid C-8 is Schecter`s main competitor in the eight-string ring. It rocks the classic C body, set in neck, 24-fret fingerboard and active EMG pickups. Mahogany back and carved quilt maple top with carbon fiber binding comprise the body. Instead of mahogany and rosewood, neck and fingerboard on this one (as well as on every other Hellraiser Hybrid model) are made of maple and ebony, respectively. Pickups installed on this model are the eight-string versions of the classic 57 (bridge) and 66 (neck). They are controlled with separate volume knobs, one tone knob and selected through the standard three-position blade switch. Schecter sets the MSRP for this outstanding eight-stringer at $1,499.
