John Petrucci is a giant among guitarists, both with his skills and knowledge of theory. This brand new JP12, which was unveiled at the NAMM Show this year threatens to become a giant on it`s own with killer tone and playability it brings. This is so far the latest Musicc Man with John`s signature and it brings refined features taken from previous models. It kicks off with a soloist-like double cutaway body made of basswood back with mahogany tone block and maple top. The top is carved and features no pickguards or binding. They have been omitted in favor of the flashy cherry sugar finish. The bridge is more than a mere tremolo, it hides a piezo pickup underneath itself. Other than a piezo, JP also features a standard passive humbucker pickup combo with DiMarzio Crunch Lab in the bridge and DiMarzio Liquifire in the neck. These pickups are controlled through master volume, master tone and three-way toggle switch for humbuckers, and three-way switch with tone control for piezo. The neck is made of mahogany and features a five-bolt joint. The fingerboard is made of ebony and sports 24 medium jumbo stainless steel frets, dot inlays and 1-11/16" wide string nut. 25-1/2" scale, chrome hardware, sculpted neck heel and Schaller locking tuners complete the specs.
