RG2228A is an eight string model from Ibanez presented for the 2012 NAMM Show. It is placed in Ibanez RG Prestige line along with the best RG models. The RG2228A starts off with a solid basswood body with a recognizable RG double cutaway. This model is available in black color with gloss finish. This flat top eight-stringer features no binding and no pickguards. The bridge is an eight string version of Edge locking tremolo bridge and is plated in cosmo black. It is also paired with a locking nut. The pickups on RG2228A are two humbuckers placed in the bridge and neck positions. They are controlled through master volume and master tone knobs. Pickup selection is done through a three-position blade switch. The neck is made of five pieces of maple and wenge with wizard contour and bolted joint.
