Steve Vai`s JEM line of signature guitars is out there for over 25 years and is still going strong, just like when it was introduced. It has been renovated numerous times and has even grown to include seven-stringed guitars. But, despite the novelties, classics remain classics. One of the best examples of a classic and a guitar which got it just right is the marvelous JEM555. Introduced back in 1994, 555 was produced `till 2011 and is still a very popular item on the aftermarket. It has a classic JEM (RG) body made of basswood, three-piece maple neck with wizard contour in the back and a bolt-on joint, Edge III tremolo (only on the most recent series), Evolution pickups (HSH configuration) and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard.
