Les Paul was and still is one of the most important people in the world of electric guitar. Maker of the iconic Les Paul guitar and avid guitarist himself, Mr Paul left a huge mark on guitar world with his genius and achievements. Gibson Guitars celebrate the entire 2013 as the year of Les Paul. In that honor four models are built, each dedicated to a decade or phase of his work. SG '50s Tribute celebrates the 1950s, the earliest years of electric guitar and Les Paul models. Even though it was before the SG, Gibson imagined how would SG look like in the 1950s and thus this model was born. Thin mahogany body is made with double cutaway and flat top. SGs never featured top wood covers, except some rare and special models. Bridge section has a tune-o-matic/stoptail bar combo with chrome plating. Pickups for both the LP and SG '50s Tribute guitars are P-90 single coils. These pickups bring the '50s back with their vintage tone. Neck on this model is made of mahogany and it has '50s contour in the back. It`s topped with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with acrylic trapezoid inlays. Color palette includes Cherry, Vintage Sunburst and Ebony. Grover tuners on this model can be replaced with a set of robotic tuners.
