Nighthawk concept is based upon the Les Paul design and construction. All nighthawks are situated within the Designer series. This series allows Gibson`s luthiers to experiment with both design and construction solutions. For example, Nighthawk models have hardtail bridges with string-through-body construction. Also, some of them are made of alternative tonewoods. Nighthawk Studio is solid, single-cut guitar made of mahogany. Top is flat and it`s bound in creme. Goldtop, Pelham Blue and Silverburst are available color schemes. All are finished in gloss. Bridge is a gold-plated hardtail with six saddles and string-through construction. Pair of open-coil humbuckers is installed in the front. Set in mahogany neck is equipped with '60s slim taper contour in the back and topped with a 22-fret baked maple fingerboard.

I have had my silverburst nighthawk studio for about a month now and i am obssesed with it. I find the shape of the body to be very curious to me, being shaped like a les paul but with a very modern feel similair to a paul reed smith guitar sort of. The instrument is amazingly versatile and you can spend hours playing round with all the different sounds the pickup combinations have to offer ( the coil tap is a great addition and the sound of the singlecoil when the tap is engadged really suits this guitar well! the sound really makes this a unique gibson.
