Luther Dickinson is considered as one of the most prominent contemporary blues and blues/rock guitar players. Thorough his work with North Mississippi All Stars and other bands (Beck, The Replacements), Dickinson has become known for his utterly characteristic tone and playing style. Throughout the years, Luther has built his reputation and honed his fingerboard skills on countless stages all across the country and has managed to get into the Gibson Memphis signature artists lineup. Luther Dickinson ES-335 is the name of his signature model and it is very clever combination of modern and vintage appointments. Dickinson and Gibson`s luthiers were aiming to deliver the ES-330 tone and response on an ES-335 body. Thus the use of the "Dog Ear" P-90 single-coils with Alnico II magnets, instead of the traditional humbuckers. Standard split volume and tone knobs are accompanied by a three-way toggle pickup switch. Body is made of laminated maple back, sides and top and a solid maple center block. It features creme binding, two "f" holes with matching binding and an elevated pickguard. Bridge section is a vintage-styled three-piece with tune-o-matic bridge, Bigsby vibrato bar and trapezoid tailpiece. This model is available in only one color, the Jim Dickinson Burst. This color scheme is taken from Luther`s father`s ES-175 and it features the famous VOS treatment. Set in mahogany neck is fit with a dark rosewood fingerboard on it`s top. Fingerboard is equipped with a set of 22 frets, vintage dot inlays, 1.695" wide corian nut and creme binding. Fingerboard radius measures traditional 12 inches. Headstock is angled and it`s fit with a set of six vintage Kluson tuners with 15:1 gear ratio. They`re installed in the standard 3+3 arrangement. Gloss lacquer finish over both the body and neck, nickel-plated hardware and 24-3/4" scale complete the specs list for this model. The MSRP for Luther Dickinson ES-335 is set at whooping $7.998.
