Les Paul Standard has been the benchmark of the Les Paul range ever since its inception back in 1958. Of all Standards, this mostly goes for the 1959 Standard, which is considered to be the best guitar ever made by many. The latest incarnation of this legendary guitar comes in two variants - Traditional and High Performance. It could be said that these are two different models, one oriented towards the fans of the classic LP and the other catering to more progressive players. Les Paul Standard 2016T comes with a weight relieved body made of mahogany back (modern weight relief system) and AAA grade flamed maple top (Ebony, Blue Mist and Gold Top have plain maple tops). A total of eleven color options are offered with the new Standard 2016T, eight burst and three solid options. The neck on this marvel is made of a single piece of mahogany and it features the modern asymmetrical slim taper profile in the back. On its top, there is a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays, 1.695" TekToid nut and 12" radius. Gibson`s QC Lead Pro in the bridge and QC Rhythm Pro in neck position are exceptional pickups; They come with all the vintage LP goodness, plus a ton more. They can be split for that twangy single-coil tone and can also be phased. Locking Grover tuners and tune-o-matic/stopbar bridge unit are also found among the main features. All in all, the mind-blowng Standard 2016T is directed towards the modern players who want a classic-sounding, but modern feeling LP. For hardcore vintage fans, there`s the LP Traditional 2016T. $2,799 price tag might decide it for some players and turn them towards the $500 cheaper Traditional.
