Custom series is, traditionally, Dean`s premier line of Superstrat guitars. Also, it is currently the only non-signature Superstrat line in the entire catalog. As part of the expansion the Custom series was included into the seven and eight-string programs, receiving two extended range models - one with seven and one with eight strings. The eight-string was named Custom 850 and was envisioned as Dean`s answer to the recent developments in this fairly young branch of the market. Solid and double-cut basswood body and the bolted maple neck form the chassis of this affordable giant. It`s driven by a pair of extended range DMT Design humbuckers (passive) with a pretty basic set of controls. Bound rosewood fingerboard with 24 frets is surprisingly comfortable and, in combination with the deep cutaway and C profile in the back of the neck, it offers quite a pleasant playing experience.
