Bass VI is an old concept which spent a long time on a hiatus. It was included into the Fender roster back in 1960s and 1970s. For 2013 it is making a big comeback as a part of the new Vintage Modified lineup. Back in the day, players who found the standard 34"-scaled basses too big and too bulky, had the VI bass. It had six strings, smaller body, 30" scale and used regular guitar strings. This made it a lot easier to lay down complicated lines and solos. This new Bass VI comes with that smooth vintage styling and packs a lot of punch into the three-piece pickup pack. Body is solid, double-cut and made of basswood, which is Squier`s main tonewood. On it`s top, there`s an adjust-o-matic bridge with floating trem tailpiece. In it`s front, there are three single-coil pickups. Master volume and master tone knobs comprise the basic controls, while each pickup has a slider on/off switch. There`s also the fourth slider, which toggles Bass-Cut "Strangle" circuit on and off. Maple neck is topped with a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard with block inlays and standard 1.65" synthetic bone nut. The MSRP for this cool cat is set at $549.99.
