2015 Gibson Memphis lineup features several Les Paul models, but this is the only four-stringed variant. Like the majority of recently introduced LP basses, this one comes with a short 30-1/5" scale and regular-sized LP body. Being a Gibson Memphis model, ES-Les Paul Bass features LP design and ES semi-hollow construction. Gorgeous Faded Darkburst and Gold Top are the only color options for this intermediate Gibson Memphis four-stringer. Of course, this is a high end base, unavailable to many a bassists, but when its price tag of $3,199 is compared to $5,000 or $6,000 tags found in 2015 lineup, the description "intermediate level model" becomes a lot more sensible. As a majority of affordable and intermediate models in this year`s lineup, ES-LP Bass comes with a semi-hollow body made entirely of poplar and maple. Two layers of maple (top layer of the sound board is flamed maple, not plain maple) and one layer of poplar squeezed in between form the recipe for ES-LP`s body. Bass variant of the age old tune-o-matic bridge/stoptail bar tailpiece is featured on the top. Newly designed bass humbuckers (active) are installed in front of the bridge. Two volume knobs, two tone knobs and a three-way toggle pickup switch comprise the controls. Mahogany neck is made of a single piece of wood and rocks a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard on top. Hpshot`s Ultralites make up the four-piece tuning machines unit.
