Artwood Vintage is one of the most recognizable and most profitable Ibanez lines of acoustic guitars. It focuses on vintage-styled guitars, as its name says. Particularly, models of this series are an attempt to bring back the styling and tone of guitars from the golden age of acoustics (that`s pre-WWII) back and make them popular once more. Not an easy task, but Ibanez seems to be doing a great job. AVN6 is one of four Artwood Vintage models introduced at this year`s NAMM. It is one of two Parlor models in the lineup (AVN5 is the other one).
AVN6 kicks off with a compact (well, all parlors are compact), non-cutaway body with distressed paint job and aged hardware. Back and sides of the body are made of mahogany (solid, of course), while the top is made of spruce (also, solid). Mahogany neck is attached at the 12th fret and rocks an 18-fret rosewood fingerboard on top. 1.69" bone nut, dot inlays and 15.75" radius complete the fingerboard. Fixed rosewood bridge with a compensated bone saddle and vintage-styled tuning machines keep this New Yorker in perfect tuning. There are no electronics installed on this model.
