Back in the day, in the 1950s, Gretsch New Yorker mandolins ruled the scene. They were among the most popular and most sought after eight-stringers around. As times passed by, these magnificent mandolins were removed from the Gretsch catalog. Today, six decades after, Gretsch is reviving the New Yorker mandolins with G9311 New Yorker Supreme Mandolin. This is an acoustic-electric instrument with eight-string construction, piezo pickup and all-solid build. Body of this exquisite mandolin is made of solid mahogany back and solid mahogany top. Underneath the top, there is the Tone Bar bracing pattern. Sound board of the G9311 is flat, carved with a pair of symmetrical f holes and bound in creme. Also, there is a raised tortoise shell pickguard installed on the top. Ebony bridge is height adjustable and it`s backed up by a clamshell tailpiece known from the legendary 1950s model. Electronics department is fit with a Fishman M300 Nashville piezo pickup. Neck on this model is made of mahogany and it sports the standard dovetail joint. On it`s top, there`s a 20-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. It`s marked with dot inlays. The MSRP is set at $399.
