Washburn`s tradition and longevity are pretty much unequaled in the guitar industry and, throughout the years, Washburn has become a synonym for quality, durability and reliability. In recent years, their acoustic side of the catalog has been blooming with new series and models, new concepts and new approaches to design and build. One of the shiniest examples is the Woodcraft series. It is a line of affordable guitars with straightforward, solid construction and simple, but effective design. At 2015 NAMM, Washburn has introduced three models into this fantastic series, and WCSD42S is one of them. Like its Woodcraft brethren, WCSD42S is a non-cutaway dreadnought guitar with a completely acoustic construction. Spalted maple is used for the back and sides, while the top is reserved for the solid Sitka spruce sound board. This choice of tonewoods, along with quarter-sawn spruce bracing, yields a strong, bright tone which resonates with a lot of power and presence. The thin satin finish over the top, back and sides allows the wood to breathe and age, allowing the tone to evolve over time as the wood matures. Mahogany neck on this model is fit with a series standard contour in the back and a two-way truss rod on the inside. On its top, Washburn installs a 20-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. Simple and small dot markers, white binding and 1.69" wide bone nut complete the fingerboard. The introduction of the major specs wraps up with the set of die-cast tuning machines installed on the vintage-styled headstock.
