Blackwood 400 series is a part of the Fall 2012 limited edition made by Taylor Guitars. This series blends blackwood backs and sides with western red cedar sound boards. As Taylor`s official web page says, this series is meant to be a seasonal alternative to the standard acoustic-electric models of the 400 series. 410ce-FLTD is a dreadnought-shaped guitar with single cutaway design and acoustic-electric construction. It`s body is made of series` standard materials: Tasmanian blackwood on the sides and back and western red cedar on the top. Blackwood is similar to Hawaiian koa, as both belong to the acacia family, but is not as exclusive and expensive. Basic tonal properties profile is very similar, with even the appearance being similar to koa. Cedar is placed on the top for the fingerpickers and solo players. Top panel on this model is equipped with rock maple binding, tortoise shell rosette and double circle rosette. Bridge section features an ebony bridge with TUSQ saddle and ebony string pins. Electronics department features Taylor`s Expression System. Neck is a standard one, it comes made of tropical mahogany and topped with an ebony fingerboard. Fingerboard is equipped with 20 frets, rock maple dot inlays and 1.75" wide TUSQ nut.The MSRP is set at $2,898.
