J-310E is one of three models with 300 badge (the only jumbo among them) and also one of three jumbo models in the Tombstone lineup (the other two are GL-J2E and J-430E). Right at the top of the specs list, we can see that this jumbo rocks a mahogany/spruce body. This means that the back and sides are made of mahogany, with the sound board being made of solid spruce (Sitka spruce, to be exact). This combination is the most popular and most widely used tonewood combo for steel-stringed acoustics, for it delivers a big, mighty tone with a lot of warmth, strong low end (mahogany`s traits) and agile response and clarity (spruce`s contribution). Bound top is fit with a single-circle abalone rosette and a fixed rosewood bridge with nubone saddle. Beneath the saddle, ESP installs the popular B-Band electret film transducer which is paired with a side-mounted preamp (B-Band T35). This is a standard choice for the intermediate class mainly for its high fidelity/price ratio. Mahogany neck rocks the classic 14th fret joint and the thin U profile in the back. 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with creme binding, abalone diamond inlays and 1.69" Nubone nut is featured on its top.
