SG '61 Reissue Satin is an homage to the original SG Standard, the original double horn devil from Gibson which changed the world of electric guitars forever when it hit the stage more than fifty years ago. It was a feather light, lightning fast, thunder powered axe like no other back in the day. Today, Gibson USA and the entire guitar world salute the legend with this reissue model. SG'61 Reissue Satin is a solid, double cutaway model with a body made of mahogany. This thin and light body has beveled edges and asymmetrical horns. There is no binding around the top, but the famous small pickguard is still here. Color options for '61 Reissue Satin are worn cherry, worn brown and worn ebony. The bridge compartment breathes with tradition, as it features a long-lasting combo of a tune-o-matic and a stoptail bar. Both are plated in chrome. Pickups are PAF styled active humbuckers, or precisely, Classic '57s with Alnico II magnets in both bridge and neck. They are controlled through a traditional setup of split volume and tone controls with a three-way toggle switch. The neck is made of mahogany with a slim SG Rounded profile and a mortise & tenon joint. SG`s neck back in the '60s made the fast neck revolution with it`s slim profile and pushed back contoured heel. The fingerboard is made of baked maple which gives an exquisite feel under the fingers. It is equipped with 22 medium jumbo sized frets and acrylic trapezoid position inlays. The fingerboard radius is standard 12" and the scale length measures 24-3/4" as it is the case with all of the Gibson-made SGs. Tuning machine are vintage-styled Tonepros with chrome plating and 16:1 gear ratio. The MSRP for SG '61 Reissue Satin is set at $2,229 for all three color options.
