The first Les Paul Standard with flame maple top and Sunburst paint job rolled off the production lines back in 1958, some six years after the first Goldtops. Despite the 1960-1968 hiatus, Les Paul Standard became and remained the standard, the example of what a professional level electric guitar should look, play and sound like. Gibson Custom`s Modern Les Paul Standard (Limited Run) is the latest rendition of the classic concept. The MSRP is set at $3,999 and color palette offers a wide range of regularly unavailable color options (Pearl Coral, Trans Purple, Trans Black, etc). Core construction features include a weight-relieved mahogany body, flame maple top, solid mahogany neck, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard, ABR-1/Stopbar hardtail bridge, Burstbucker pickups, and Kluson Deluxe tuning machines.

I've had this guitar for a few months and really love everything about it. I've only been playing a few years and played mostly Fenders (Strat and Tele) until I got this. I changed pickups in my Strat a couple of times chasing tone, and this is the tone I was after. The Burstbucker pickups are rich and full on the neck, bright and twangy on the bridge and a lot of tones in between using both and playing with the tone controls. The neck is a perfect size for me and I have medium to small hands. It seems medium size, not thin but not chunky. The weight relief is a nice feature also, much lighter than the 75 Tribute model I ordered from Guitar Center and sent back because of some issues. I have the Trans Blue model and the Flamed Maple top is gorgeous. There are no negatives for me, it's my dream guitar. It costs a lot, but you get what you pay for.
