Not a very good choice, Gibson didn't hit the target with SG GT. A lots of features missing or not done the way most musicians would like, and the price is not attracting people to buy this guitar either.

Gibson could throw in a bit more features into SG GT but this guitar is definitely a usable musical instrument. Whether it's the price cut, or Gibson felt that simplicity is a good way to go, SG GT is built with a limited set of features, so one needs see if it fits the need. Not the best equipped instrument, but SG GT will do well for some musicians.

You could find a better fitted guitar, but SG GT is ready to be played by any musician willing to take time and adjust it to his/her needs. Gibson built a guitar that has nice finish but it lacks something that would make it feel even better. Guitar stays in tune reasonably well, if you don't force it too much, and the SG GT's neck is playable.

If you're happy with Gibson's SG GT overall performance and characteristics, you can consider it to be a replacement guitar for your gigs. Even if used as only guitar SG GT will perform, but don't overrate it and always try and find a backup. It is a solid guitar that will last long and perform well if you treat it right.
