Pro series is an intermediate tier in the Jackson catalog, and it brings a compromise between the beginner and lower intermediate tiers (JS, X, etc) and upscale lines like USA Select, Jackson Custom Shop, etc. Most usually, the models of the Pro tier come with high quality components and superior playability at the expense of extravagance and luxury. Pro models are there to cover the entire field from learning and practicing, to composing, to recording and performing live. 2015 lineup of the Pro Series is being completely overhauled from the previous year and Jackson places the bulk of this years updates precisely in Pro tier. Pro Soloist SL2 is one of the premier examples of Pro series qualities and philosophy. It comes with a solid and contoured alder body with quilt maple top (only on Burnt Cherry Burst). Floyd Rose bridge on the top features six adjustable saddles and recessed vibrato. Seymour Duncan`s direct-mount Mayhem Distortion humbuckers come with a pretty basic controls unit (master volume, master tone and a three-way toggle pickup switch), and deliver an unheard-of level of fierceness in this price range (somewhat over $1,000). Maple neck runs through the body, and features a 24-fret ebony fingerboard on top. Jumbo-sized frets, piranha inlays and the locking nut comprise the fingerboard. Die-cast tuners on the classic pointy headstock are installed in a single row, thus completing the list of major appointments and specs.
