G5420T Electromatic belongs to the quintet of rather upscale (in terms of Electromatic Collection) guitars, introduced for 2016 summer NAMM. All of the models have price tags well over $1,000 mark, rendering them somewhat unavailable to beginners and players operating on a tight budget. G5420T comes in at $1,149 and is, along with its left-handed twin, the most affordable of the bunch. Key features of this single-cut archtop are 24-3/5" scale, set-neck construction, fully hollow body and 22-fret fingerboard. Standard Electromatic Collection electronics and hardware options are also included. Fairlane Blue, Aspen Green and Orange Stain color options exist. G5420T is a single-cut guitar with carved top, classic "f" holes (bound) and a removable pickguard. Its back, sides and top are made of five-ply laminated maple, a recipe perfected some five, six decades ago when the classic "Gretsch tone" ruled the scene. The neck is made of maple as well, though solid. In the back, it rocks the standard U profile, while a standard 22-fret fingerboard sits on top. Blacktop Filter`Tron humbuckers offer a huge range of tones, marked by clear, punchy delivery. Adjust-o-Matic bridge and open-gear tuners complete the specs list.
