Description above inaccurate. This guitar features a 5 way pickup selector switch which allows for both double and single coil settings. It also has a feature (push button by the tone control) that switches from passive to active pickups. This guitar is solid and has a set neck that plays extremely well. The fretboard is ebony. You can get any tone you may ever need or want, from a strat tone to a Les Paul and everything in between with the stock pickups. This guitar is made with quality materials and electronics. Neck is straight and didn't even need a setup right out of the box. Mine has a little extra (heavier amount) wood stain on the fifth fret and a tiny bit extra stain on the natural binding on the headstock but overall is extremely beautiful to look at as well as play. This is my main guitar for shows. Whether you need a backup guitar or not, always bring one regardless of how good your main one is. Maybe even buy a second Godin Fat Black! This guitar was very reasonably priced. I had planned on buying a Paul Reed Smith but got the same quality guitar for half the price. I would for sure replace this guitar with another Godin Fat Black. I am extremely happy with this guitar! When I tried it out, I had already tried out a PRS, Strat and Les Paul. When I picked it up and started playing it, it was as if was hugging me back. Fabulous quality for a fabulous price. You can't go wrong purchasing this guitar.

I switched my ESP ltd F-400M and bought this one. I wanted to go from Heavy Metal to more blues and rock, but still wanted a guitar that could give me that metal core release when I need to vent or simply feel gritty. I shopped around, tried some Shecter, PRS (which is what I originally wanted), an SG, and a studio Les Paul (both Gibson). All were good, but this one just stood out from the rest. The ebony fingerboard (the above-mentioned rosewood fingerboard is wrong) simply feels amazing and this guitar litterally plays itself. I can get clear sounds, a good funky fuzz, a clean viby blues, some gritty rock and some hardcore heavy metal straight from the pickups without any pedal or tuning. The only thing I cannot play without a peddle is Death or Black Metal. I jam with my friend who has a 1500$ strat and have to tone down because I bury him on equal bolume settings, while playing blues on single coils without HDR. Godin, I feel, will give you more bang for the buck than gibson, PRS, ESP, or any other big name brand out there. And better quality for less price. And they are made in my home Province :).
