Though it might not be much of a looker, CM2016T is definitely a worker. It is a true US-made workhorse made for hard rock and classic metal. Completely solid mahogany back and plain maple top form the body. There`s no binding, no pickguard and no price-building fancy lacquer job.
The neck is made of a single piece of maple. It rocks a rounded profile in the back, instead of the ubiquitous slim taper (Gibson`s favorite since the `60s). 22-fret rosewood fingerboard (also made of a single piece of wood) with dot inlays and 1.695" TekToid nut covers the neck.
Gibson`s 61 zebra-coiled humbucker in the bridge position brings all the dirt and raw power one might need. Roll of the tone knob and sweet, creamy lead tones pour out of this black & white marvel. Other premium features include an adjustable wraparound bridge, green key Grover tuners, thicker fingerboard and a padded gig bag.
Overall, this is a thoroughbred Les Paul guitar with mighty LP tone and completely subdued looks, partly thanks to the Satin Ebony finish. It won`t break the bank, its looks won`t turn heads (let`s be honest here, that`s always been a part of Les Paul appeal), but it`ll rock many a socks off.
