Elliot Easton of the Boston-based legends The Cars is one of the new members of the big Gibson Guitars signature artist family. His Tikibird Firebird signature model is being introduced into the Firebird series lineup for the summer of 2013. This exclusive Firebird comes with an original "reverse" body style used back in 1963-65 period. Neck-through-body construction is also one of the classic Firebird traits. Body wings are made of mahogany and are glued onto the neck, also made of mahogany. There is no top wood cover on this magnificent six-stringer. Bridge section is made up of two parts: the Tonepros tune-o-matic bridge in the front and the Bigsby tailpiece with vibrato bar in the back. In it`s front, there are two active humbuckers made by Gibson. Classic 57 active humbuckers are used on this one. Standard controls unit is used here. Mahogany neck is fit with a slim and narrow profile, just as Mr Easton required. On top of the neck, there is a 22-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. It features trapezoid inlays and creme binding. Tikibird Firebird is available only in Gold Mist Poly. The MSRP is set at $3,332.
