Session musician`s career doesn`t get much better than being Paul McCartney`s right hand man. Really, it doesn`t. If besides that, a player has a successful solo career, it doesn`t get any better. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome Brian Ray, a six-string slinger who`s got both of the previously listed items under his belt. In 2015, Mr Ray is also being introduced into the most exclusive guitar society in the whole wide world, the Gibson custom Signature Artist circle. Brian Ray SG Standard w/Bigsby is the name of his first signature Gibson. Right off the bat, its clear that this Standard ain`t no standard Standard. It`s been tuned, modded and customized quite a bit. First of all, it comes with a one-piece body, a feat so rare these days that even many regular Gibsons don`t have it. Then, there`s the custom selection of pickups - `57 Classic Plus in the bridge with a Burstbucker 1 in the neck for the extra hot rhythm and super creamy leads. The classic tune-o-matic/stoptail bar combo`s been replaced by a tune-o-matic with the vintage-styled Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. Like the body, mahogany neck is also made of a single piece of mahogany. Custom designed Brian Ray profile is found in the back, while in the front a 22-fret Indian rosewood fingerboard is featured. Nickel-plated Kluson machine heads, classic controls unit and white plastic parts complete the specs list. Brian Ray Standard SG w/Bigsby comes in Silver Fox finish and costs $4,699.
