1960s were one of the most fruitful decades in Stratocaster history, ranking only behind the initial 1950s period. After the British invasion rock music was completely revived and revitalized in the US and Fender`s Strat was the main weapon of the new, 1960s generation of rockers (1960s were also the lowest period of the Les Paul history). Though Jazzmaster, Jaguar and other more eccentric models were introduced during this turbulent period, Stratocaster has retained its distinguished position among the six-stringers of the period. Fastforwarding to 2015 and Fender`s exhibition at the annual NAMM show, we can see that the accent of the novelties section is on the 1960s and their legacy. One of the most prominent `60s-oriented models is the new Special Edition `60s Strat - a simple and beautiful guitar with the authentic `60s tone and looks. Solid and double-cut alder body forms the classic Strat foundation with the bolt-on maple neck - a recipe which largely defined and shaped the face of modern music. On top of the delicate Daphne Blue body, Fender installs the classic white pickguard, 2-point synchronized trem bridge and three vintage style single-coil Strat pickups. The classic trio is fit with a period correct set of controls and switches, while the gloss-finished maple neck rocks a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard on its top. 1.65" wide synthetic bone nut with 7.25" radius, vintage-styled frets and dot inlays complete the fingerboard. Painted headstock (it`s painted in Daphne Blue to match the body) features the regular (pre-70s) contour and is equipped with a set of six chrome-plated vintage tuners.
