The new Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster is the first Jimi Hendrix model in a long time, and it more than does justice to both the legendary guitarist and his reversed Strat. Considering the craftsmanship, attention paid to details, tone and overall feel, this "flipped over" Strat is quite probably the best Fender six-string in last decade or so. Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster kicks off with a classic alder/maple combination of body/neck tonewoods. Ever since the 1950s, alder bodies and maple necks with 25-1/2" scales gave that distinct twang and clarity Strats and Teles were loved for. In Jimi Hendrix` particular case, it was the reversed headstock and the increased length of bass strings which gave an even tighter, more menacing growl to his cherished Strat. C-shaped neck is covered with a 21-fret fingerboard also made of maple, adding the sparkling sharpness to the overall tone. Black dot inlays, 1.65" synthetic bone nut and 9.50" radius are all there as well. Moving on to the electronics department, the first thing to catch a player`s eye is the reversely slanted single-coil pickup in the bridge position (Jimi`s own Strat had the same feature due to the fact that it was a regular right-handed guitar flipped over and restrung as a lefty). The master volume knob (right under the bridge pickup), a pair of tone knobs and a five-position blade switch comprise the controls. American Vintage `65 Gray-Bottom single-coils fill all three positions and are the most faithful recreation of the original Jimi Hendrix Strat pickups to this date. Behind the pickups, a vintage synchronized tremolo bridge is featured (this time, the trem bar is at its default bottom position). It has six completely adjustable saddles. Set of vintage machine heads on the reversed headstock completes the specs list.
