TE series deals with, as one might suspect, metal-oriented guitars based on the classic Telecaster design. Though much less popular among the metalheads, Telecaster shape has its faithful and dedicated fans among the headbangers. ESP`s TE series competes against several similar series on the market and its LTD section features some of the finest metal Teles ever made. 2015 catalog reconstruction has treated the LTD TE series to a pair of six and one seven string model. TE-406 is the base of the new 400 tier in the TE range. It comes with a solid and flat mahogany body and bolted maple neck (instead of the standard set-in, or set-thru construction, ESP has opted to respect the Tele tradition and leave the 406 with bolt-on construction). On the top of the flat, single-cut body, ESP installs the standard six-string fixed bridge with string-through-body construction (a feature which greatly increases sustain and tuning stability). EMG`s 81 in the bridge and 60 in the neck position guarantee a beastly tone and truck loads of sustain. U-shaped maple neck is topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard (two frets less than the 400 tier standard) with no regular inlays (only side dot markers). Grover tuners complete the specs list.
