Epiphone`s Les Paul models can be located in the beginner, lower intermediate and intermediate classes of the market, being positioned well below their Gibson counterparts. Even though the line between the Gibson and Epiphone began to fade (thanks to the sub-$1,000 Gibson models), Epiphone models are still considered budget versions. The brand new Limited Edition Inspired by 1955 Les Paul Custom Outfit comes in just in time for 2016 summer NAMM. It costs $799 and offers Epiphone`s rendition of the classic 1955 LP Custom. Gloss-finished ebony paint job, aged binding and gold-plated hardware are all true to the 1955 original.
Limited Edition Inspired by 1955 Les Paul Custom Outfit kicks off with a carved-top body made entirely of mahogany, lacking the maple top the original had. The neck is made of mahogany, as well. It rocks a classic `50s rounded profile in the back (ubiquitous slim taper contour has been dismissed in favor of historical accuracy) and is attached to the body through a standard mortise & tenon joint. On its top, Epiphone installs a 22-fret ebony fingerboard. Medium jumbo frets, trapezoid inlays, 1-11/16" string nut and 14" radius complete the fingerboard. In order to be able to dial the right tones in, 1955 Les Paul Custom Outfit has been equipped with a pair of Gibson USA P-90 soapbar pickups. They come with a standard LP/Gibson/Epiphone controls unit - two volume knobs, two tone knobs, three-way pickup switch. Gold-plated tune-o-matic bridge with a stoptail bar and a set of six vintage-styled tuners complete one of the finest Epiphone Les Paul models ever created.
