Epiphone Ltd. Ed. 2015 Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Standard w/ Bigsby® Outfit is Joe`s third signature Epi guitar. Both of the previous two were renditions of Joe`s all time favorite, the cult `59 Les Paul Standard. 2015 Bigsby Outfit is on the same trail, but now with a genuine Bigsby B70 bridge system.
Being a guitar made in the vein of the classic `59, 2015 Joe Bonamassa model starts off with a solid, thick mahogany body made for that big, big tone with almost infinite sustain and unbelievably rich texture. On its top, there is a plain, hard maple top with the classic contour taken over from the legendary late fifties LP. Back and sides are painted black while the creme-bound top comes in mesmerizing Inverness Green. Black pickguard and pickup rings, mismatched bridge and neck pots and nickel-plated hardware add even more beauty and class to this little heart breaker.
Deeply set mahogany neck is, of course, equipped with the legendary `59 rounded D contour, the only neck profile for true `59 LP Standard fans. 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with 1-11/16" string nut, 12" radius and trapezoid inlays sits on top. Solid wood fingerboard is bound in creme to match the body. Flawlessly set medium jumbo frets, 12" radius and deep cutaway grant this Ltd. Ed. Epi a level of playability on par with much more expensive Gibson USA models.
Amplification is, in agreement with Joe, entrusted to the amazing Gibson USA Burstbucker humbuckers, the closest thing to the original PAFs Gibson has ever made. Unpolished magnets and non-potted coils add a little "edge", a little more "bite" and heat to the classic Gibson humbucker tone, a feat which fans of hot and heavy blues rock will know how to appreciate. Classic LP controls unit is there, but with mismatched pots, continuing the Joe Bonamassa signature line tradition.
In the bridge section, instead of the default stoptail bar, Locktone`s Tune-o-matic bridge is accompanied by Bigsby`s B70 vibrato system anchored at the bottom of the body. Set of six nickel-plated Grover tuners (18:1 ratio) mounted on the classic Epi headstock completes this six-string stunner. With an incredible blues rock tone, impressive set of features squeezed under $1000 and limited availability, Epiphone Ltd. Ed. 2015 Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Standard w/ Bigsby® Outfit is among the strongest contenders for the title of the signature guitar of 2015.
