Classic Gibson bodies have always been, and still are, a great source of inspiration for all the younger brands out there. Hybrid variants are countless and only a few of them make it through the initial production run and even fewer of them stick long enough to gain their own identity and dedicated following. Legendary ML and Cadillac are best known examples and they both come from Dean Guitars kitchen. A legend in the making is the fairly younger Splittail (a case of how magnificently well can SG front and split V tail work together). Currently, the Splittail range consists of an exclusive Dean Custom Run #12 Splittail which will, in 2016, be accompanied by the awesome Splittail Celtic.
Splittail Celtic starts at $499 and offers all-mahogany construction, DMT pickups and standard 22-fret fingerboard. Beveled mahogany body rocks one of the coolest custom graphics in its class - the mighty Celtic graphic designed to look like wooden shield with Celtic knot behind the bridge. Set mahogany neck features the C profile and is topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard (Celtic knot inlay at 12th fret).
DMT Design humbuckers with open coils deliver the modern Dean metal tone with great sustain and brutal low end (perfect for down-tuning). String-through tune-o-matic bridge and die-cast tuning machines complete the specs list. Splittail Celtic is a bold and beautiful metal axe made for daring individualists. Certainly, one of the most exciting guitars in the $500 class.
