VB100 by Rogue
Vintage Sunburst

VB 100 is a model from the VB series made by Rogue Guitars. VB is a line of hollow-bodied basses made in tribute to the legendary Hofner Violin Bass. VB 100 features a 31" scale, instead of the original 30" scale, which is featured on Hofner`s basses. VB 100 has a fully hollow body made of maple. It is made of plain maple back and sides with a flamed maple sound board on the top. Rogue stays true to the Hofner heritage and offers this VB model in Vintage Sunburst with gloss finish and chrome hardware. On the top, a two-piece bridge is fronted with a pair of minibucker pickups. Set in maple neck (hard rock maple) is topped with a standard 22-fret fingerboard made of rosewood.

I have been playing the Rogue VB100 for about three months so I am new to it. I also have a Hofner Ignition Bass. Overall I like both guitars but I really think I like the sound on the Rogue a little better. I did put flat wound strings on the Rogue and started getting great 60"s thump sounds. The stock round wound strings were not very good, so if you get a VB100 plan to get a good set of short scale flats, There are two issues I have with my Rogue VB100 but both are minor problems. 1) The frets stick out just a bit and I had to file a few of them down so I wouldn't get cut. it only took a few minutes to do this and I used a very fine file. 2) The nuts holding the tuning machines and the output jack were loose and I had to tighten them when I changed the strings. The I try to play the Rogue every other day and the Hofner Violin Bass on the other days. I really can't say witch I like best . The Hofner cost about $100 more than the Rogue.
